Tom MorrisTom Morris, PhD Tom Morris has become one of the most active business speakers in America due to his unusual ability to bring the greatest wisdom of the past into the challenges we face now. A native of North Carolina, Tom is a graduate of UNC (Chapel Hill), and has been honored, along with Michael Jordan, as a recipient of their "Distinguished Young Alumnus Award". He holds a Ph.D. in both Philosophy and Religious Studies from Yale University, and for fifteen years served as a Professor of Philosophy at the University of Notre Dame, where he quickly became one of their most popular teachers. He is now Chairman of the Morris Institute for Human Values in Wilmington, NC, where he now lives.

Karen Bender Karen E. Bender's first novel excerpts have been published in THE NEW YORKER, GRANTA, and STORY magazines. The chapter "Eternal Love" was chosen by Annie Proulx to appear in THE BEST AMERICAN SHORT STORIES 1997, and was read by Joanne Woodward to a sold-out crowd at Symphony Space in New York; the recording of that reading aired on NPR's SELECTED SHORTSS. Bender also received a prestigious Rona Jaffe Foundation Writers' Award based on a draft of this novel, and it was recently optioned for TV movie development. Picador will publish the novel in England. Bender's fiction has appeared in the IOWA REVIEW and the KENYON REVIEW and has been reprinted in PUSHCART PRIZE XVIII and other anthologies. A graduate of the Iowa Writers' Workshop, she lives in New York with her husband, the writer Robert Anthony Siegel, and their son.

David GessnerDavid Gessner is the author of several books, including The Prophet of Dry Hill and Return of the Osprey, which was chosen by the Boston Globe as one of the top ten nonfiction books of the year and the Book-of-the-Month club as one of its top books of the year. The Globe called it a "classic of American Nature Writing." Forthcoming from Beacon is Soaring with Castro, in which he follows the osprey migration from Cape Cod to Cuba and Venezuela and back. In 2006 he won a Pushcart Prize. He has taught environmental writing at Harvard, and is currently an assistant professor at the University of North Carolina at Wilmington. (By writing about how much he loves Cape Cod he ended up a thousand miles away.) He is the Editor of the national literary journal, Ecotone. His daughter, Hadley, is (still) a beautiful genius.
